Papua Diving

Kri Island is located about 75 km northwest of Sorong.

The main ports of entry are Jakarta, Bali or Manado.

It is easiest to fly through to Sorong via Jakarta or via Singapore. Express Air and Sriwijaya Air operate daily flights from Jakarta to Sorong (with stopovers in Ujung Pandang/Makassar ), whereas Silk Air operates regularly (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sat) from Singapore to Manado. From Manado there are regular direct flights to Sorong by Lion Wings (Mon, Wed, Fri) and Express Air (Tue, Thu, Sat).

From Bali it is not possible to get to Sorong in one day on Sunday (an overnight stay on Saturday in Makassar is required)

We recommend to fly in through Jakarta on Express Air. If you come from Manado, Express Air or Lion Air.

Sorong is located at the tip of the Bird’s Head peninsula in west Papua.

Kri Island is approximately 2 hours by boat from Sorong.

Our packages (7 and 14 nights) run from sunday to sunday. We offer free boat transfer from Sorong to the Island on those Sundays.
If you choose to stay for 10 nights, you have 2 options:
Arrive thursday and depart the following sunday.
Or
Arrive sundays  and depart the following wednesday.

Upon arrival at Sorong airport you will be met by our Guest Relations staff who will assist you from that point on. If you have to spend the night in Sorong before continuing your trip, we can arrange a hotel package for you.

The boat transfer from Sorong to Kri Island will take about 1.5 ‐ 2 hours.
The boat schedule is arranged in accordance with multiple guest arrivals so we plan the boat transfer times to/from the island according to the guest’s flight/travel schedules.
We usually have 1 boat departing Sorong sunday morning and 1 in the afternoon.

We can also assist arranging domestic flight tickets within Indonesia.

Departure from Kri island back to Sorong is again scheduled in accordance with multiple guest departures and outbound flight times.
Depending on those times we have an early morning boat at 5:30, 8:00 am or 4pm in the afternoon – as the rule of thumb 4 hours before your flight.

Surat jalan (travel permit)

To enter Papua itself, you need a surat jalan which is issued by the local police. We will arrange the surat jalan for you upon arrival at the resorts. This procedure will not take any of your time and is done as a part of our service. Please bring:

  • 3 Passport Photos
  • 3 Copies of the photo page of your passport
  • 3 Copies of the passport page with the Indonesian Visa

Airport taxes apply, the departure tax at Jakarta is Rp. 150.000 for international departures and for domestic flights 40.000 taxes apply also. At Sorong Airport you will be charged 16.000 IDR departure tax. Manado International Airport will charge 100.000 IDR. Denpansar International Airport (Bali) charges 150.000 IDR.

All taxes and overweight fees need to be paid cash in IDR Rupiah, so make sure you carry sufficient cash with you.
