Wamena
One of the most popular being hiking trips in the Wamena area. Wamena is situated in the central highlands of the main Papuan Island at 1650 meters elevation (a nice cools climate) where great hikes are easily made. The local people will be some of the friendliest you have ever met and yes, still it will be quite a culture shock! You will however find it a very worthwhile one.
Asmat
Another amazing area is the Asmat area with its world renowned woodcarvers. We can assist you with organizing your art collecting trip there.
Our long time friendship with MAF and other mission workers guarantees inside information and support. We can bring you to places where very view outsiders have travelled with reliable guides to assist and inform you. Our approach is to use as guides mission scholars who speak English fluently and we personally know. Through The Lentera Papua NGO some have stayed with us in the Raja Ampat for a 3 month apprentice course and we can thus personally highly recommend these men.
